The Visayas State University (VSU) through its president, Dr. Edgardo E. Tulin, appointed Mr. Jesus Freddy M. Baldos as the new Head of the Online Programs Office (OPO) vice Dr. Editha G. Cagasan effective July 1, 2020. Mr. Baldos is a PhD Candidate in Development Communication of the University of the Philippines Los Baños as a scholar of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) K-12 Transition Scholarship for Faculty & Staff Development Program. As OPO head, he is expected to initiate, plan, administer, coordinate, review and monitor all programs under the Graduate Distance Education program of the university. This includes the Master of Agricultural Development, a non-thesis degree program, with fields of specialization in Agricultural Education, Agricultural Extension, Animal Production, Language Teaching, and Agronomy. OPO is under the Office of the Vice President of Instruction. Further, he is a permanent staff holding an Administrative Officer V position. Prior to the appointment, he is in-charge of the VSU Obelisk, the official newsletter of VSU. Mr. Baldos is from Borongan, Eastern Samar and is married to Ms. Leah M.
